Now
it's easy to get accurate and professional waveform monitoring wherever
you need it! UltraScope features 6 different scopes for measuring all
aspects of a broadcast video signal. You get waveform, vectorscope, RGB
parade, YUV component parade, histogram, audio phase and audio level
meters, plus picture view! Available as a PCIe card for workstations, as
a portable USB 3.0 solution or as part of a dual rack mount display.
Get the technical accuracy engineers demand combined with a fast to use
interface that creative professionals will love!
Eliminate Technical Errors
Professional
waveform monitoring is the only way to ensure your production work
meets all international standards. As well as technical monitoring and
quality control, waveform monitoring is paramount during editing,
mastering and color correction. During color correction it's vital to
see the balance of black, mid range and white in an image and UltraScope
is the perfect solution because you get 6 big beautiful scopes on a
single computer display. Now you can also install SmartScope Duo and get
waveform monitoring in racks next to your other equipment.
The UltraScope Family Choose your Scope!
You
can display UltraScope on a computer’s monitor or laptop display, using
either a PCIe or USB 3.0 computer interface to connect your video
source. Blackmagic UltraScope’s PCIe card can be installed into Mac or
PC workstations and Pocket UltraScope is powered by its USB 3.0
connection for ultimate
portability when using a laptop. SmartScope
Duo features two independent 8" displays and looks like a dual rack
monitor. You can assign any scope view to either display or choose to
view a picture feed with a scope next to it!
6 Broadcast Accurate Scopes
You
get a range of the most popular waveform displays, so you can
accurately check the quality of your video signals. The waveform display
shows you the luminance in your video, the vectorscope shows you a
color plot of the various colors in your video, the RGB parade shows
color balance and illegal video levels, the histogram shows the
distribution of pixel brightness and the audio scope and level meters
let you check audio phase and levels.
Innovative Software for both Mac and Windows
When
using UltraScope on Mac or PC you get a beautiful large screen with
controls and buttons that allow you to change scope parameters, as well
as to perform functions such as error checking and logging. UltraScope
runs natively in full screen mode and is ideal when you need large
screen scopes in edit suites, control rooms and even on the road when
used with a laptop. When using SmartScope Duo, controls and scope
settings are changed centrally from a single computer using the
SmartView Utility!
Monitoring Solutions
When you need
rack based waveform monitoring or waveform monitoring integrated with
picture monitoring, then SmartScope Duo is the perfect solution.
SmartScope Duo looks like a dual 8" rack monitor, but includes powerful
processing for generating broadcast accurate waveform displays. Now you
can
get rack mount monitoring and instantly flip over from a picture
display to a range of waveform displays whenever you need. Each
SmartScope Duo LCD screen can be set independently so you can have any
combination of video monitor or waveform monitor you like!
3G-SDI on every UltraScope
With
different connections it’s easy to choose the model that best suits
your needs. The PCIe Blackmagic UltraScope includes 3G-SDI and 3G
Optical Fiber inputs. UltraScope selects between optical and regular SDI
inputs and both inputs loop through for connection to other equipment.
The USB 3.0 Pocket UltraScope includes a 3G-SDI input and is a perfect
solution for laptops. SmartScope Duo features an independent 3G-SDI
input for each display. All models automatically switch between SD, HD
and 3G-SDI video formats as the input changes.
SCOPES
Broadcast Accurate Waveform Monitoring
The
world's first waveform monitoring designed for editors and colorists,
with the technical accuracy broadcast engineers will love! All models
feature the most popular and useful scopes for all your creative and
broadcast engineering use. If you're building technical monitoring then
the waveform, YUV parade and vectorscope are ideal. If you're a colorist
working on the look of your images then RGB parade, vectorscope and
histogram let you see the balance of colors as you work. When you're
shooting on set, then histogram and audio scopes let you keep track of
your lens settings and audio! There really is a scope for everyone!
Waveform Display for Alignments
Waveform
display is perfect for adjusting video levels or matching black
background levels when keying! Waveform view features a luminance
display of the black and white levels in your video signal. The
UltraScope models feature a composite setting to show both luminance and
chroma. Composite video is synthesized from the SDI input displayed for
a better view for aligning decks and other video equipment. Even though
UltraScope is fully digital, the synthesized composite waveform makes
it easier for editors who are familiar with composite waveform monitors.
Vectorscope View
A vectorscope is the only way to
measure colors in video accurately! If you're color correcting video,
vectorscope shows when color has been removed or nulled out for accurate
white balance. When you need to apply a tint, vectorscope lets you see
exactly how much tint you’re adding and what color it is. Sometimes
monitors can't be trusted, but with vectorscope you’ll always know the
exact colors you’re working with! You can also easily align hue on decks
using a vectorscope!
Parade Display for Colorists
The
real-time RGB parade waveform view is the ideal scope for accurate color
correction. You can see the color balance in ‘blacks’, ‘mids’ and
‘whites’, making it easy to balance colors for perfect looking images.
RGB Parade lets you check for illegal colors because any video that
drops below the black line, or above the 100% line, is an illegal RGB
color! Vectorscope view cannot show illegal video levels, because
vectorscope only plots colors and not the luminance component of video.
However the RGB parade plots your video as R, G and B and so is the
perfect way to keep track of illegal video levels! You can also select
YUV parade display to show YUV component video as its transmitted down
the SDI cable and is perfect for broadcast engineering analysis of SDI
signals.
Audio View For Monitoring Levels
Monitor your
audio levels with 8 channels of audio metering on UltraScope models or
16 channels on the SmartScope duo model! Audio scope also includes a
stereo phase meter that can be selected to different SDI audio pairs.
The stereo phase meter plots left and right audio as an XY scope display
so you know exactly what your audio is at all times. It’s easy to see
audio problems such as clipping, and out of phase audio can be seen as a
left or right leaning display. If you don’t get a vertical oriented
waveform then you know your audio channel balance is out!
Histogram For Location Shoots
Clipping
levels on a live shoot results in loss of detail, which can cause huge
problems when you try to adjust ‘blacks’ or ‘whites’ in post production.
Histogram view lets you see where the pixels are in your video, and how
they are distributed from black to white. You can see if your video is
clipping and adjust the camera iris and ISO settings to keep all black
and white detail in the image. This means you have the full contrast
range of video for easy color correction during post production.
Histogram will transform your shoots because you can see exactly what
you're recording and the colorist who works on your job will benefit
from the availability of the full contrast range of the camera!
Picture View For Timecode
Of
course the most important view of all is pictures! You can select
picture view for general monitoring of video. The UltraScope models
embed a picture view into the 6 way software interface so that you can
see the video being measured next to the live scope displays. The
SmartScope Duo model lets you select full frame video on any screen at
any time! UltraScope will auto detect between SD, HD and 3G-SDI
standards and then video format is displayed above the picture. If the
SDI input contains either VITC timecode in SD, or RP 188 timecode in HD,
then this is decoded and displayed.
Software Upgrade
UltraScope
and SmartScope models allow for software updates to add new features in
the future. You can simply download new software and add new types of
scopes as they become available. Programmable internal software means
you can get new features, compatibility with new hardware and support
for new formats in the future. When downloading updates UltraScope and
SmartScope software automatically detects the internal software of your
hardware and will prompt you to update if necessary so the update is
completely automatic and simple to perform!
